You may remember Valeryan from her spell with The Settlers back in the mid-70s, but she had a very successful solo career before and after that. In the 80s she retired to bring up her family, only returning to singing and writing after they’d grown up. Since 2010 she’s been working again with Pete Goodall and has released a number of albums, including a fascinating range of songs, and can sometimes be heard at sessions in Shropshire and Herefordshire. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet until I was on the point of leaving the area for Cornwall, so I don’t hear her nearly as often as I’d like.
